Using Weight Distribution on 2013 Audi Q7 w/ Factory Air Suspension
Question:
I have a 2013 Audi Q7 Prestige with adjustable air suspension and factory tow package. My owners manual says to never use a weight distribution hitch. Ive been trying to figure out if there are any anti-sway bar options or any other recommendations that comply with not using weight distribution. Also, your video reviews have me sold on Tekonsha P3 in case you have any advice on that. Tow vehicle specs: Payload capacity 1279 lbs Towing capacity 6600 lbs Hitch weight capacity 660 lbs GVWR 6889 lbs GAWR Front 3241 lbs GAWR Rear 3946 lbs Im looking at the following travel trailer: 2017 Forest River Rockwood Mini Lite 2504S GVWR TBD on website but by my calculation UVW+CCC=6312 lbs Dry Hitch Weight 512 lbs UVW 4876 lbs CCC 1436 lbs I also live in California so mountain terrain is a given. What do you recommend for towing between this tow vehicle and trailer? Thanks

If your owner's manual specifically states not to use weight distribution, I'm afraid I cannot recommend any action that would contradict that. You might want to ask your Audi dealer for clarification on that.
Just because you can't use weight distribution doesn't mean you can't use a friction sway control unit like part # 83660. You'd also need a # RP26003 sway control bracket for your existing ball mount. The friction sway unit would be helpful in resisting sway caused by crosswinds and turbulence caused by passing or oncoming traffic.
We don't offer any anti-sway bars for your Q7 but I did see that they were available when I did a Google search.
For a brake controller, you can't go wrong with the Tekonsha Prodigy P3, part # 90195. The P3 is the easiest to use controller I'm aware of. I really like the easy to use controls and the fact that you can tell the status of your braking system just by taking a glance at the screen.
