Making a Fifth Wheel Slider Hitch into a Non-Slider on an 8 foot Truck Bed
Question:
I have a 2007 GMC 3500 HD Dually new style with a Reese 16K slider hitch installed when I leased it. It has an 8 ft box. My question is two parts. 1. Is there any advantage having a slider hitch with an 8 foot box? 2. Is it possible to change it to a non slider by removing the tubular slider rails and where can I get the mount?

Expert Reply:
With an 8 foot bed, there really is no benefit to having a slider hitch, unless the hitch is improperly installed. You can either leave everything as is and not use the slider, or you can purchase the legs to switch it out. The Replacement Fifth Wheel Legs for Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch and Reese are part number 30727.
