Compatibility of Dexter 23-468/23-469 Brake Assemblies with Al/Ko Brake Drums
Question:
Can I use my existing Al Ko drums on new Dexter 23-468 brake assemblies?
asked by: Kim
Expert Reply:
The Dexter # 23-468 (driver side) and # 23-469 (passenger side) brake assemblies will be compatible with your existing brake drums as long as:
-The existing drums dimensions match the dimensions of the 23-468/9 assemblies, which are 10x2-1/4. In order to fit, the inside depth and diameter of your existing drums should also be 10x2-1/4 inches.
-The armature surface (surface the magnet rides against) isn't excessively grooved or discolored by excessive heat. If the metal has a bluish tint to it, it might have been overheated at one time.
