Should the LED Display on the HM47294 Typically Show Brake Power Output Less than the Maximum  

Question:

I Set the controller up for my trailer at 30 /sen #3 It felt like it was working . my qustion is as I braked led read 5 and somtimes 10 even at hard brake the led did not exceed 10 is this normal .I thought it should read 30 at an agresive brake.

The Hopkins Agility brake controller # HM47294 is a proportional unit, so it syncs the trailer brake up with how the vehicle is braking. If the maximum stopping power is not needed in a driving situation, then the unit will not send a maximum strength signal to the trailer brakes. You should only see the 30 percentage displayed when you either slam on the brakes while driving, or when using the manual brake button on the unit.

During day to day travel, you should only see the power percentage the unit senses is necessary for the particular trailer weight and for the trailer and vehicle combination. If you do find that you need more aggressive braking for your particular trailer, you can always increase the braking power as described in the instructions.
