Replacing TREQ310 Equalizer with Suspension Enhancement Trailer Suspension System

Question:

I have an 03 Komfort 5th wheel with 5000 pound axles. The trailer comes standard with a 4 inch tall equalizer. I want to replace it with either a Lippert Equa-Flex or Dexter E-Z Flex. The horizontal spacing on the existing equalizer is 6 inches with a 33 inch axle spacing. From what I can tell the horizontal is with in specs but I loose about 2 inches on the the vertical with one of the replacements. With a 2 inch shorter vertical on the replacements, is that a problem?

You are correct that the slightly skinnier equalizers will not pose a problem for you, but the vertical height could.

Since the shackle straps that come with the # K71-652-00 kit are slightly shorter than the average shackle strap, they will help make up for the loss of height in the equalizer. This will likely allow the E-Z Flex system to work well for you. Between the two systems, I recommend the Dexter E-Z Flex Heavy Duty Rubber Suspension System # K71-652-00.

However if you have issues with the shackle straps allowing the spring to come into contact with the bottom of the trailer, you will want to replace the center hanger with a longer hanger in order to compensate for the shorter equalizer.
