Choosing a Pickup For Towing Cattle Trailer Converted into Food Truck

Question:

Hello! We have a converted cattle trailer that will be used as a BBQ food truck, but dont know what kind of truck to get to haul it around. All we know is that it should be 3/4 ton minimum and have a gooseneck hitch. Any suggestions? Certain brands better than others, how important is mileage/ year, gas vs diesel, etc? We just have no clue what were looking for. Thank you so much for your help!

I would certainly recommend a 3/4 ton truck as a minimum, but I'm not going to enter into the Ford vs. Chevy/GMC vs. Ram argument, it's like trying to determine who's got the best pizza or BBQ.

I can give you some general guidelines. I'd go with a Diesel if you can swing it, since the engines are longer lived than gas engines. Due to the pretty sizeable loft at the front of the trailer, I'd recommend getting a long-bed truck for maximum clearance between the loft and the rear of the truck cab. Since it sounds like you'll be doing a fair amount of traveling likely following the Church carnival and County Fair circuit, I'd recommend getting a truck that you'll be comfortable spending a lot of time in. Test drive all three makes to find the one you feel most comfortable in.
