Installing Power Wire for Husky Brute 4,500 Pound A-Frame Jack

Question:

I have a small breakaway style battery on my trailer and I want to install an electric trailer jack I have the Husky HB4500. Can I simply power the jack from the tow vehicle 7 pin connector or do I need a separate larger battery? Thanks,

To install the Husky Brute Electric Trailer Jack HB4500, A-Frame, 4,500 Pounds # HT87247 you want to get power for the jack from either the 12V hot lead wire at the 7-Way connector or a larger 12V battery on the trailer. You will not want to install the jack on the trailer's breakaway battery.

If you connect the jack's power wire to the 12V hot lead from the 7-Way connector, make sure the trailer's connector is plugged into your tow vehicle in order for the jack to have power.

By powering the jack from a separate 12V battery on the trailer you will be able to operate the jack even when the trailer connector is not plugged into your tow vehicle.

In order to connect the jack's power wire and circuit breaker to the 7-Way's 12V hot lead, you need a handful of butt connectors # DW05745-5. The installation instructions and an installation video for this jack are both attached to this page for you.
