Transmission Cooler Hose Fittings for a 1988 Jeep Cherokee with 4.0L and Automatic Transmission
Question:
Please tell me which adapters to order for 1988 Jeep Cherokee with 4.0 L and Automatic Transmission. I will not be installing but want to order the correct parts. I understand D13028 is for 3/8 hose and HH41412 is for 5/8. Perhaps there are two different automatic xmssns for the 88 Cherokee? Could I determine by the type of fluid specified?

There is a difference between the Derale Radiator Adapter Fittings, # D13028, and 1987-Current Jeep OEM Custom Transmission Cooler Fitting Kit, # HH41413(now discontinued). Basically, the first ones are aftermarket fittings that do not follow the same design as the original factory fittings. On the other hand, Hidden Hitch part does follow the design of the factory fittings.
If you look closely, you will notice that the 5/8 diameter described by the Hidden Hitch part, # HH41413(Now discontinued), is the outside diameter measurement. On the Derale Radiator Adapter Fittings, # D13028, the 3/8 inch diameter described in the product description means that the 3/8 inch fitting will fit a transmission hose or power steering hose with a 3/8 inside diameter.
You can use either one of these fittings and they will both fit.
