There are several aspects to consider when choosing the best weight distribution system for your 2006 Chevy Silverado and Mallard travel trailer. First, you will want to look at tongue weight capacity. You will want a system with a tongue weight capacity range that encompasses your Mallard travel trailer tongue, loaded and ready to tow.

I did some research on Mallard travel trailers. What I found was that some 26 foot models have a tongue weight of about 600 pounds. You will want to verify your specific trailer tongue weight to choose the best system. But for a 600 pound tongue weight, I recommend a system that has a range of 400 to 800 pounds.

If you want a system that includes weight distribution, I recommend Reese Round Bar Strait-Line Hitch with Shank, # RP66087. This comes with round bar weight distribution and dual-cam sway control. Dual-cam sway control works to stop trailer sway before it starts which is how it gets the Strait-Line name. This system also comes with the required shank. You can use the # 19286 ball with this system as well. I have included a link to the installation details below. I have also included an FAQ article on weight distribution and sway control, and a video showing a basic installation of a weight distribution system.
