Recommended Trans Cooler for 2003 Nissan Frontier with Supercharged V6

Question:

I want to do away with cooling the tranny fluid using the factory radiator. I want to cool the tranny only with a separate cooler. Nissan has had problems with radiators leaking antifreeze into the transmission from holes in the radiator. Do you have a cooler that will REPLACE the factory radiator cooling so that I wont risk ruining my tranny by these poorly built radiators Nissan used. I have a 2003 Nissan Frontier that is a V-6 3.3 liter and is supercharged. thanks.

Since you want to completely replace the OEM transmission cooler in your 2003 Nissan Frontier I suggest you go for a fan-powered Class V unit like # D15900 from Derale. Fan-powered coolers cool your transmission fluid at all times, even if you are standing still. If you do any amount of low-speed off-roading then this type of cooler is a better choice. It will, like the OEM radiator's coolant fluid, lower the transmission temperature even when you are not moving. Since your engine is supercharged, a fan-powered Class V is the way to go.

All fan-powered transmission coolers are shown on the linked page.
