Brake Controller Replacement for 2015 Ram 2500 Integrated Controller That Shows Error at Low Speed
Question:
Have a 2015 Ram 2500 with tow package factory install brake controller. I have been receiving a trailer brake disconnected message primarily when turning corners at low speeds. The message appears for about a minute and then clears itself. I have looked over the wiring for the trailer and it appears fine. The connection points are not corroded. When the message appears all the lights on the trailer function properly. In my mind it appears to be isolated to the brake controller in the truck. Am I missing something? I have seen in other forums that Rams have had issues with the controllers not sending out the proper voltage when under 30mph to activate the electric brakes on a trailer. Am I one of the lucky few that appears to have a controller issue or am I missing something? Unfortunately Chrysler/Dodge will not acknowledge an issue with their brake controllers so I am wondering if I need to break down and buy and aftermarket to install. If this is so, what would you recommend?

The warning you are seeing is definitely the brake controller not sensing a connection. If all of the wiring is clean it would sound like the issue is what you described about the Mopar brake controller just not liking slowing speeds for whatever reason.
I would strongly recommend you go with an aftermarket controller that you would be reliable at all times like our best selling Prodigy P3 part # 90195 that you referenced.
To install this you will need the install harness part # 3024-P. When you go to replace your factory controller you will end up seeing an error message for the controller so you would need to go to a Ram dealer to have them turn that off in the TIPM.
