Tire Recommendation Replacement Recommendation for a ST 235/85R16
Question:
I have purchased 6 of the Kenda Karrier ST 235/85R16 tires in the last year or so. Of those, I have had issues with 3 of them. Should I expect this to continue? I am not close to the Weight Rating, nor does the trailer see any mileage at all. Two of them have developed bulges I have caught them before on road issues. The other one exploded with an empty trailer going down the road. The trailer is stored in a lean-to off the side of my shop. I need a couple more tires but am hesitant to reorder.

Tire failure is typically caused by 3 things. Exceeding the weight capacity of the tire (which it sounds like you haven't done), exceeding the speed rating for the tire which the part # AM10501 is rated for only 65 miles per hour, or improper tire inflation. Trailer tires should always be kept at their max psi rating in order to prevent failure and ensure you get the full capacity.
I have a better solution for you that will work better. For a tire in the size you need the part # TTWPRG235R16 would be your best choice as it has a higher capacity but mainly because it has a higher tire speed rating at 81 mph.
I attached a review video for this tire for you to check out as well.
