Do Trailer Axles Carry a Speed Rating

Question:

What is the max speed rating of the trailer/axel?

1

Helpful Expert Reply:

Trailer axles are not speed-rated but they are rated for weight capacity. Hubs and wheels also are rated for weight capacity, but not speed. Trailer tires, on the other hand, have a rating for weight handling and for speed.

When a trailer tire on our site does not show a specific speed rating, that means it has a 65-mph rating. If its rating is more than this, we list that specific speed rating, such as the 81-mph M rating for radial tire # TTWTRTM2157514D.
