Brake Controller Relocation Kit Needed for 2008 Chevrolet Silverado Installing Demco Underbed Rail

Question:

I have a 2008 silverado 2500hd crew cab short bed with this under the bed fifth wheel rail and need a Brake Controller Relocation Bracket due to the fact that the top rear bolt on the drivers side mounting bracket cannot be drilled or have the bolt put through it because the factory brake controller is mounted there. What Brake Controller Relocation Bracket would you suggest/ would work for me?

I spoke with Demco and they do not currently have a solution for this issue. The only relocation kit we offer for your 2008 Chevrolet Silverado's factory trailer brake controller is the Factory Brake Controller Relocation Kit for Fifth Wheel and Gooseneck Rails # 58318. This kit works as a spacer to move the factory brake controller away from the frame in order to install the 5th wheel brackets. My contact at Draw-Tite confirmed that it will move the brake controller approximately 3/8 of an inch away from the frame in order to provide space for the bracket hardware.

This kit is designed to work with Reese underbed rails for GM trucks. Unfortunately, neither we, nor Demco, nor Reese/Draw-Tite have tested the compatibility of this Relocation Kit # 58318 with the Demco Underbed Rails # DM8551004 to be sure they fit together. However, after looking over the installation instructions for these brackets and relocation kit, it appears they will fit together well.

The installation instructions for the relocation kit are linked for you.
