Question:
I want to buy the travel toilet to take on our cross country camping trip. What chemicals do I need to use in it?

According to my Camco representative, it's not entirely necessary to use any chemical in the travel toilet. Due to the small size of the tank, it would need to be emptied pretty frequently which would prevent odors from building up.
Of course this doesn't mean you cannot use a chemical deodorizer if you wish do so. We have many different drop in pouches and tablets, but as you'll see by clicking the provided link, they're meant for a 40 gallon RV holding tank, not a 5.3 gallon holding tank on a toilet. I'd recommend going with the # V77011 Odorlos Holding Tank Treatment. Since 1 ounce treats 10 gallons, I'd use 1/2 an ounce for the 5.3 gallon holding tank in the toilet.
Using a quick-dissolve toilet paper is recommended.
