Yes, the Tekonsha P3 Brake Controller, # 90195 will work on your 2010 Chevy Silverado 1500 2WD Crew Cab.
The Tekonsha P3 brake controller is a proportional brake controller which means it will only activate when you apply the brakes on the tow vehicle. It has a motion sensing device that will know how fast the tow vehicle is stopping and applies power to the trailer brakes, but it is only activated when the brake pedal is stepped on.
If your truck has a factory tow package with the factory 7-Way trailer connector, all you will need is the brake controller. The wires needed are tucked up under the dash, to the right of the emergency brake, held together with white tape. The wire colors should be a Red/Black wire which connects to the black wire on the brake controller, a white wire which connects to white on the brake controller, a light Blue/White wire that connects to red on the brake controller and lastly, a Dark blue wire that connects to the blue wire on the brake controller. If you also see an orange wire, it is not needed.
There are also two wires under the hood that need to be connected to make the tow package functional. I am sending a link to information on installing your brake controller on your 2010 Chevy Silverado, which will show in detail everything you will need to do. I also am sending a video link that shows a Tekonsha brake controller being installed on a 2009 Chevy Silverado.
If your truck does not have the factory 7-Way trailer connector at the rear of your truck, you will also need to use the Pollak Twist-In Trailer Connector, # PK11916. This will fit into the existing cut out on your rear bumper and plug into the connector attached to the factory knockout plug. Then you will wire the brake controller as mentioned before.
I am sending a video link of the Pollak connector being installed on a 2009 Chevy Silverado.
