Recommended Weight Distribution System for a R-Pod 179 Towed by 1998 T100

Question:

What weight distribution and anti-sway system do you recommend for towing a R-Pod 179 with a 1998 Toyota T100? The RV dealer wants to sell me the Blue Ox Swaypro $1000 installed, but it seems like overkill for this small trailer. Do you recommend a less expensive option?

When choosing a weight distribution system, it is key to know your trailer's loaded and ready to tow tongue weight. To this tongue weight you will need to add the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle in the bed of your 1998 Toyota T100. Once you know the total tongue weight, it will be easier to choose a properly rated weight distribution system.

Your R-Pod 179 has a Gross Trailer Weight of 3800 lbs. and a Tongue Weight of 350 lbs. Most people may carry anywhere from 0-200 lbs. of cargo behind their wheel axle so I recommend a weight distribution system which is compatible with a tongue weight of 300-600 lbs. The Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ37060ET is a great option as the system is compatible with trailer tongue weight ranging from 300-600 lbs. and should work excellently for your R-Pod 179. This is the more affordable option than what you were quoted. The system includes the weight distributing shank and a 2 inch trailer ball.

This system is easy to install as you do not have to drill into your R-Pod's frame. The Equal-I-zer Weight Distribution System is bolted onto your trailer for easy installation. You can also back up using this system and you do not have chains on this system which are loud on the road.

If you plan on doing the installation yourself, I recommend the Thin Walled Socket # EQ70-00-4800. This socket is made for Equal-i-zer hitches and it will make it easier to install your hitch ball on an Equal-i-zer weight distribution head.

I have attached a review video of the Equal-I-zer weight distribution system and installation instructions you may want to check out.
