Replacement Pin Box Recommendation for StarCraft Fifth Wheel Trailer

Question:

I have a solid mounot hidden hitch brand , 2001 year 18 k will the lipped 1621 be the best match and work fine with an older starcraft 5 th wheel camper if the bolt holes match. Would this be all I would need? I dont want to buy a new hitch if I dont have to

The best pin box for you will depend on what you want to accomplish.

In a 'good, better, best' scenario, the Lippert Rota Flex # LC328330 would be the good option. The king pin sits on a rubber dampener that allows the king pin some fore and aft movement which helps to absorb some of the chucking and jarring by helping to isolate the trailer's movement from the truck. The Trailair Air Ride, part # LC158778 would be the better option. The inflatable air bag and shock absorber work together to provide great ride quality, further isolating any noise or harshness in the ride of the trailer from the truck towing it. The Best option would be the Trailair Flex Air, part # LC328492 which combines the dampeners used by the Rota Flex with the air bag and shock absorber used by the Air Ride for exceptional ride quality.

Closely examine your pin box, there should be a sticker or tag on it somewhere listing the manufacturer and model number. If you can't find that, you'll want to compare the dimensions of your existing pin box with those shown on the diagram I've provided for you, to ensure that you do indeed have a Lippert 1621 pin box.

If your truck has the 5-1/2 foot bed, you'd need to use a Reese Sidewinder, like # RP34FR for a 20K non-air ride model or # RP61422 for a 16K capacity air ride. I'll link you to an FAQ article that explains how the Sidewinder works.
