Can The Roadmaster Base Plates RM-523160-5 Fit A 2010 Chevy Equinox With A Power Steering Cooler

Question:

I am planning on installing a new base plate on a yet to be purchased 2010 Equinox. There is a tech note on your site which indicates the power steering cooler will interfere with base plate installation. Does this mean it cannot be installed? Can the cooler be moved? Is there any type of solution? Thanks.

The old Roadmaster XL Base Plates, 3160-1B, will fit a 2010 Chevy Equinox with a power steering cooler. The power steering cooler needs to be removed when installing the base plates. After the main receiver brace of the tow bar brackets is installed the power steering cooler will be installed to that main receiver brace.

With the power steering cooler reinstalled you will need to check that the cooler lines will clear the plastic fascia and backside of the grille. If needed the plastic parts will need to be trimmed. The instructions show detail of where any trimming is needed.

The new EZ5 base plate kit # RM-523160-5 would also require the cooler to be relocated.
