Recommended Brake Controller and Wiring for 2013 Mini Cooper Towing Tear Trailer

I am putting a hitch receiver on a 2013 MINI Cooper and I need to know what I need for brake controller and light indicators. I will be pulling a less than 1000 lb tear camper with electric brakes.

I recommend the Prodigy P2 brake controller # 90885 for use with your 2013 Mini Cooper and your tear-drop trailer. This controller is easy to set up and use, and our customers rate it highly for its reliability. Installing the controller will require our # ETBC7 install kit along with a basic 4-pole harness # 119250KIT. I linked installation videos for both products, for your reference.
The hitch we offer for your 2013 Mini Cooper is a light-duty Class I type, part # C11272, shown on the linked page. Class I hitches have a 2000-lb towing capacity, enough for your tear drop trailer, but you'll want to confirm that the car itself is rated for towing your 1000-lb trailer. Check your Mini owner's manual or with your local dealership using the car's VIN.
