There are a few things you will need along with a tow bar to pull your 1987 Suzuki Samurai. First you will need a base plate kit, the Roadmaster Standard Base Plate Kit, part # 1003-1, will fit your 1987 Suzuki Samurai if you do not have a brushguard. If you have a brushguard, you will need to remove it for part # 1003-1, to fit. This base plate kit will go with the hook up style of the tow bar.

You will need a tow bar, the Tow Ready Adjustable Tow Bar, part # 63180, will work for your application. I do not recommend this tow bar though because it is only rated for towing speeds of 45 miles per hour or less. With this tow bar you will also need Roadmaster Base Plate to Tow Ready Tow Bar Adapter, part # RM-025, to mount the Roadmaster Base Plate Kit and Tow Ready Adjustable Tow Bar. You will also need the Roadmaster Tow Bar Quick Disconnect Kit, part # RM-201, to easily remove the tow bar from your 1987 Suzuki Samurai.

A better tow bar option would be the RoadMaster Tracker Tow Bar, # RM-020, and quick disconnects, which are designed for towing long distances and more frequently.

You will also need safety cables, I would recommend the Roadmaster 68 inch Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables part # RM-643, for your vehicle. These cables are coiled and vinyl coated to prevent scratching the tow bar.

For wiring to operate the lights on your Suzuki Samurai, you could go with lights that mount to the vehicle by magnets, the Magnetic Towing Lighting Kit, part # RM-2120, or wire the vehicle directly using Tail Light Isolating Diode System. part # 38955. I would recommend going with part # 38955 if you plan to tow the vehicle a few times or often you will just have to simply plug the harness in.

I have linked a video review of the Tail Light Isolating Diode System, part # 38955 below. There are also videos of a tow bar and tail light diode install on another vehicle that may be of good reference when installing tow bar on your 1987 Suzuki Samurai.
