How to Determine if a Trailer Hub with a 6 on 5-1/2 inch Bolt Pattern is a 3.5k or 6k Axle
Question:
hello i have a 28 ft enclosed car trailer. the wheels bolt pattern is 6 on 5-1/2 .does this make it a 5200 lb axle or is it a 3500lb axle.if it is already a 5200lb axle can i just replace the spindles with the ez lube.

Expert Reply:
Trailer hubs with a 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern can have an axle weight capacity of between 3,500 and 6,000 lbs.
The diameter of the axle will be your next place to look to narrow down the capacity. If it is 2-3/8 inches it's going to be a 3,500 lb capacity or if it's a 3 inch diameter it's going to be a 6,000.
For an EZ lube 3,500 with the right bolt pattern you would need part # 84656UC3-EZ, or for a 6,000 lb you would need part # 8-201-9UC3-EZ.
