Recommendation for 2-Bike Rack on Class I Hitch on 2017 Honda Civic
Question:
Which two bike racks do you recommend for a 2017 Honda Civic.

Expert Reply:
Since the 2017 Honda Civic has not yet been released (May 2016), there are not confirmed trailer hitch mount or trunk mount bike rack options for the vehicle. However, the Civic is a very popular vehicle for a Class I trailer hitch. A Class I trailer hitch offers a 1-1/4 inch receiver shank and has a maximum 2-bike carrying capacity.
If you decide to go with a hitch mount bike rack, I recommend using the Kuat Beta, Folding 2-Bike Aluminum Rack for 1-1/4 Inch Trailer Hitches # B202-114 because of the rack's lightweight yet durable construction. This bike rack only weights just over 12-1/2 pounds on its own, leaving the majority of the Civic's tongue weight capacity for your bikes. The Beta has a maximum weight capacity of 80 pounds. If you plan on carrying any bikes with alternative frames that do not have the traditional upper frame bar, I recommend using a bike adapter bar, # UB01. I've attached a review video of this adapter bar and a video of the bike rack on a similar vehicle for you.
Once the 2017 Civic is released, manufacturers will begin testing trunk mount bike racks on the vehicle. Feel free to check back to see when trunk-mount bike rack options are added for the Civic.
