Can I Upgrade To A Newer Fifth Wheel Hitch On A 2005 Ford F150 And Use My Current Reese Bed Rails

Question:

I have a 2005 Ford F150 with a Reese 14K slider hitch now installed. Can I upgrade to a newer hitch with side-to-side tilt that will fit my present Reese bed rails?

Yes, you can upgrade to a newer hitch like the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch, # RP30084. This hitch will fit into the Reese, Curt, Valley, Draw-Tite and Hidden Hitch base rails.

The Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch, # RP30084, is a 20,000 lbs. hitch with a square tube slider. The square tube slider will give you extra travel of 10 inches front to back. The 4-way pivoting head is a nice feature that allows the head to move front-to-back and side-to-side and makes it easier to hook up your fifth wheel trailer.

Another hitch to look at is the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch, # RP30083. This hitch is a 20,000 lbs. hitch with a round tube slider. The round tube slider will give you 12 inches of travel from front to back, which is an extra 2 inches compared to the square tube slider. It also has the 4-way pivoting head. The round tube slider also tracks a little smoother which is helpful in the cold weather areas.

Neither of these hitches will fit trucks with beds shorter than 6 feet and also will not fit flareside or stepside beds.
