Installing 5th Wheel Hitch in 2002 Ford F250 So It Wont Interfere w/ Existing Gooseneck Hitch

Question:

I have a Valley 7054 fifth wheel hitch I need to mount on a 2002 F 250 for Long bed. It has a goose neck ball in it all ready so it cant conflict.

The mounting brackets that join your existing gooseneck hitch to the truck frame are sitting right where the fifth wheel install brackets would need to install, so unfortunately there's no getting around the fact that you wouldn't be able to install both hitches on your truck.

There are existing adapters that would allow you to tow a fifth wheel trailer with a gooseneck hitch, but the majority of them are pretty rough of the frame of the fifth wheel. The few exceptions to that rule are very expensive.

I'd recommend removing the existing gooseneck hitch, and installing the fifth wheel hitch using the # 50043-6008 install kit. With the fifth wheel rails in place, you can use either your Valley fifth wheel hitch, or by using a gooseneck plate like # 16055 you can easily tow a gooseneck trailer if need be.
