Recommended Axle-less System For Home-Made Off-Road Trailer

Question:

I am building an off- road trailer to haul camping gear and support a roof top tent . I like the hubs on the 3500lb axles and thought I could replace the leaf springs to maybe lighter if trailer ends up weighing less. I believe it will be less than 2000 lbs loaded . this has me looking at torsion axles also but not sure I want to be riding so close to the max weight of a 2000 lb torsion axle and I am worried that a 3500 lb axle will just bounce the trailer all over the road/trail .... I think I am lacking in know how on what question to ask next that will get me to the best axle . thanks for any help ....

You will first need to know what the trailer is rated for. You can run into the problem just as you stated. If you get a heavier system on the trailer and carry much less weight it can bounce when on the trail. I have a solution that will work for you.

For ease of installation and capacity I recommend an axle-less system like part # ASR1THDS02. This system bolts onto the frame and eliminates the axle beam as well as leaf springs and the hardware. This system has a 2,200-lb capacity and is designed for off-road tires. Installing the system increases ground clearance which is important when off road.

The trailer idler hubs I recommend for this system is part # 84545BX. This trailer hub includes the bearings, races, seal, grease cap, wheel bolts, and lug nuts. This hub has a 5 on 4-1/2 inch wheel bolt pattern.
