Internal Dimensions of Curt Pintle Hook with 2-5/16 Inch Ball C48006
Question:
Why can # C48006 only take a lunette ring up to a 3inch ID? Are physical dimensions of the Curt pintle hitch preventing a 3.25inch ID from being used?

I went out to the warehouse and measured the Curt pintle hook # C48006 for you. I have linked the measurements to this page for you to check out.
Dimensions of the lunette outer rings can differ from manufacturer to manufacturer. You will see from the diagram that with the ball in place there is only 2-1/4 inches of space between the ball and the pintle on the Curt # C48006. If your lunette ring will fit the space available and the 2-5/16 inch ball of the pintle then you can use it for your 3-1/4 inch inner diameter lunette ring.
I have linked the Curt pintle hook to this page for your convenience.
