Troubleshooting Brake Controller Not Working On 2002 Chevy Silverado

Question:

I have 2002 Chevy dura max and everything works properly when I hook up except no brake lights. There is fire coming to connector for left and right signals but nothing firing when brakes are applied.... Brake lights on truck are working properly. I know its something on my truck because when my trailer is hooked to another dura max, everything works properly

Sounds like a blown CHMSL fuse on your truck. This is a very common problem for your generation GM truck that just stops the brake controller from working. This is actually the second time I have seen this exact problem today on your generation of truck.

The CHMSL fuse controls the third brake light of the truck. I bet if you were to go out and look at the third brake light while a buddy hits the brakes it wouldn't come on.
