Troubleshooting Brake Controller Not Activating With Brake Pedal on 2007 Chevy Silverado
Question:
Bought TBC and adapter harness and installed and mounted correctly in my truck. Works with manual lever but no voltage reading or braking when I apply brakes. Same problem with previous controller and that is why I bought a new one. I know the red wire communicated with the brake switch if I am not mistaken, but that wire is connected with all other wires in the plug that connects to the box underneath the steering wheel to the left of brake pedal. Is there a quick fix for this? Is my internal circuitry bad? Can I cut the red wire and splice it into the brake switch? Is that safe? Please help!

When we see this problem on your generation 2007 Chevy Silverado the problem is a blown CHMSL fuse. This fuse controls the third brake light circuit. I bet if you were to go out and watch as someone applied the brakes of your truck the third brake light above the bed would not illuminate.
The fuses in your truck are known for blowing quicker than most other vehicles. I wouldn't be surprised if your old brake controller may have malfunctioned and caused the fuse to blow.
