Troubleshooting Left Turn Signal Light on Trailer that Is Dim But Not With Brake Lights
Question:
Hello, My left turn signal is very dim, but is bright when I use the breaks and running lights. My right side works perfect. I have replaced the bulbs but still not working. Also my side marker lights have stopped working. Could this be grounding issue? would it be a bad ground at the hitch or at the light its self?

Expert Reply:
It is most likely a ground issue that is causing the problems you described on your trailer. Since several lights are behaving strange I would first check to make sure the main ground for the trailer is connected to a clean metal surface.
You can also try running the ground wire of each light back to the main trailer ground and that will help as well. If the lights ground through the mounting hardware you also will want to make sure that they are attached to a clean metal surface.
