Fifth Wheel Rail Kit and Suspension Enhancement Recommendation for a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 Short Bed
Question:
Hey there, I am looking to install a 5th Wheel hitch into my 2015 GMC 1500. I would like to use the Reese quick install kit however I am also planning on installing firestone air bags and I would like to know if these two products are compatible. Can you please suggest an installation kit for me I need rails, frame brackets and all associated hardware. Thanks in advance.

The Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs, part # F2430 is a fit for your 2015 GMC Sierra 1500. The installation on your truck would be the same as you see in the video on the 2011 Silverado.
As far as interfering with the installation of the fifth wheel rails, I spoke with my contacts at both Firestone and Reese about the two components. Since manufacturers will not test fit their product with another manufacturer's products they both said that it depends on the other company installation and whether the location of the brackets would interfere with one another. The air suspension brackets mount directly above the axle to the frame and to the inside of the leaf spring.
The best option I can give you is a suspension enhancement solution that I can guarantee will not interfere with the fifth wheel rails like the # TGMRCK15S which will basically replace the bump stop to provide you with suspension support. What's nice too about this kit is that it does not require running air lines or maintaining air pressure in them.
Then for fifth wheel rails the custom install kit part # RP50064-58 would be a great choice as it will install in about half the time of a universal kit and will minimize drilling.
Since you have a short bed truck you will need a slider hitch to allow you to make tight turns without cab interference like the part # RP30075 which has a dual jaw and a round tube slider that will operate smoother than a square tube slider.
