Underbed Fifth Wheel Rail Kit and Hitch Recommendation for a 2001 GMC Sierra 2500HD Long Bed

Question:

I have a new to me 01 GMC Sierra 2500HD, extended cab, long bed 8. I think the under bed mount kit I want is the Reese RP30061, but the fitment only list short beds. Is there a different part, or any reason why this one wouldnt work in an 8foot bed? Also, Reese RP30156 is the correct adapter for those rails to an industry standard older Reese hitch correct? My current hitch fit the regular old bed rails in the old truck, but I would like the under mount system in this truck and it would be nice to keep the same hitch. Thanks

I have a great option for an under-bed mounted fifth wheel rail system, but I checked with Reese and surprisingly they do not have an Elite rail kit for the long bed version of your truck.

I would recommend the B and W Companion hitch setup with part # BWRVK3500 for the hitch and then the part # BWGNRK1067 for the rails. The Companion hitches are considered by nearly all RVers as the nicest hitches around so I know you will be happy with this setup.

To provide you with an industry standard of fifth wheel rails for if you wanted to use your old hitch you would need the # 16310.
