Will Edge Evolution Programmer Help With Throttle Lag On 2004 Ford F-150 With 5.4L Triton Engine

Question:

Hi, I am about to purchase an edge evolution for my 2004 f150 fx4 5.4l triton. Two reasons. I have throttle lag, a delay of about 0.5 seconds when stepping on the pedal until engine accelerates, secondly for towing advantages when hauling a 24 ft 8000 lb boat and trailer. Can you tell me if the programmer will help with the lag issue which I understand is a common complaint for these vehicles. Cheers,

When the Edge Evolution Programmer # EP59YR is installed on your F-150 there are several performance improvements you can expect.

With the advanced tuning options, you can see improved throttle response which would address the 'lag' you said you have. The High Performance, setting on this system provides quicker, firmer shifts which may take care of the delay in your acceleration.

Another Expert passed on some information they found on the internet and the ways people deal with the same issue you are having with the hesitation. It appears to be sensor related and here is how they solved the problem:

I had the dreaded hesitation, and I ran my gas down to empty and filled up with 93 octane. then I put Techtron fuel injector cleaner in, used a 1/4 tank. That's when I did my mod, but I did reset the PCM and took the truck for a drive at all speeds within 15 minutes of the reset. No hesitation after that. Good luck!

I had the same problem on my 08 Limited 5.4 when I bought it 2 months ago. Here's what I did to fix the problem. Turn the key to the on position but DON'T start the engine. Now press the gas peddle to the floor SLOWLY and let it come up/back as fast as you can, turn key to the off position. Now do this two more times. Now start the engine and go for a test drive then report back here with your findings!

That helps as it lets the computer relearn the scale of 0 to 100percent throttle opening.
