As long as there is a gap between the mirror housing and the mirror itself, the Cipa # CM11980 will fit the factory mirror on your 2006 Dodge Dakota. It should not interfere with normal operation of the mirror.
Since I know your mirrors have a gap between the housing and the glass I know these will fit well for you.
You might consider the K-Source # KS3891 universal Towing Mirror. The mirror features ratcheting straps for a tight, nearly vibration free fit that won't inhibit minor mirror adjustments.
