More Power for Towing a 6,000 Pound Trailer with a 2010 Ford F-150 5.4L

Question:

I am trying to tow a 27 foot camper trailer ~6000 lbs. The F150 readly struggles pulling this. I live by Denver, CO. When pulling i was running at 65, it pretty much stays at a high RPM value and gets about 8 MPG. How much HP does the Towing Chip setting increase HP?

The Superchips Flashpaq programmer # SU1845 can provide up to 38 horsepower and 57 foot pounds of torque on your 2010 Ford F-150 5.4 liter. The exact amount for any given tune though isn't available. You would probably want to use the heavy tow tune. For towing you will want a lot of low-end torque because that is when it is needed the most. Adding a programmer is definitely going to help!

There are other parts you can add to the truck to increase the power such as exhaust and cold air intake. I have included links to the main pages for exhaust and cold air intake products for your 2010 Ford F-150.

Another thing to consider, which I am sure you have heard of, is the altitude. The thinner air in the Denver area can make it harder for truck when towing because it affects the air/fuel ratio. A lot of vehicle manufacturers actually list lower tow capacities if towing at certain altitudes.
