Brake Controller and Install Harness Recommendation for a 2016 Ram 1500
Question:
My owners manual is not clear on where/if theres an under-dash pigtail into which I can plug a brake controller for my 2016 Dodge Ram 1500. Theres a 7-pin connector and hitch factory-installed and theres NOT a factory-installed in-dash controller. Ive looked, hard, but cannot find anything that looks like what Im looking for. The travel trailer were looking to buy needs an electric brake controller, so Im trying to scout out everything Ill need. Can you describe, or have you already documented somewhere, where that pigtail should be? Thank you!

Your 2016 Ram 1500 does have a brake controller install port under the dash. To install a Tekonsha brake controller like our very popular P2 # 90885 you would only need the part # 3024-P.
I attached an install video that shows these two products being installed in a 2016 Ram 1500 just like yours.
I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes.
