Weight Distribution with Sway Control Recommendation for a 2013 Ford F-150 and 5,700 lb. Trailer
Question:
We just bought a 2003 springdale 268 bh with one slide. The trailer weight is approximately 5700 lbs. We are pulling it with a 2013 Ford F-150 quad cab 4x4 with 5.0 liter engine. What would you recommend?

Trailer tongue weight is usually 10 to 15 percent of the gross trailer weight. So on a trailer that weights 5,700 pounds the tongue weight would be in the neighborhood of 570 to 855 pounds. You also have to factor in the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the 2013 Ford F-150 as well. So for example if the tongue weight of the trailer is 600 pounds and you have f200 pounds of stuff in the truck bed behind the rear axle that would make the total tongue weight 800 pounds.
Based on the weight of the trailer a system rated for 1,000 pounds such as # EQ37100ET is a great option. Everything is included with this system but we do recommend a thin-walled socket, # ALL643216, when installing the ball. I have linked a video review of this system as well as some links on weight distribution and determining tongue weight for you.
