Taillights Malfunctioning on Trailer Towed By Volvo VHD Dump Truck

Question:

my Volvo VHD dump truck lights works as they should. it has a separate system to run the lights on our trailer. we have a 7pin connecter for the trailer. my turn signals and brakes do not work right. I can make the turn signals work or I can make the brake lights work but I can not seem to get them both working together as they should. what am I doing wrong. the truck has a separate wire for brakes,rt trn and lt turn signals. how do I get the brakes and turn signals to work on the same circuit.

What kind of trailer are you trying to pull? A commercial dump truck likely uses a 7-way round pin trailer connector which likely has the right turn, left turn and brake signals separated into three circuits. If the trailer combines the brake and turn signal signals onto two circuits, one for right turn/brake one for left turn/brake, then you'll need to install a taillight converter onto the truck. This would explain why you've been having a heckuva time getting your trailer taillights to operate properly.

I'd recommend # C59236, which would install inline with the wires feeding the trailer connector on the dump truck.
