What Holds The Highland Floor Mats, # 46021, To The Carpet On A 2010 Toyota Highlander

With all the Toyota floor mat gas pedal issues, this leads me to ask about the staying power? What holds and or anchors this floor mat to the carpet? Are there hooks or grommets?

I called Highland and they said that they do not use hooks or grommets to attach the floor mats to the carpet. They said that the Highland Floor Mats, # 46021, are custom fit for the that particular vehicle so they do not have room to slide around. They also said that the back or underside of the mats have grooves in it that prevent sliding and help keep the floor mats in place.
I also checked on the WeatherTech brand floor mats and they also said that the custom design helps the floor mat fit better so less of a chance for sliding and they use ridges on the bottom of their mats to help in keeping the floor mats from moving.
