Because wire colors can vary during the same vehicle model year, we recommend folks test by function, rather than by wire color.
Since your Tahoe has what we call a 'separate' taillight system that uses different bulbs for the brake light and the turn signal, you'll need to use a circuit tester and probe the wires in the harness feeding the taillight assemblies until you find the wire that only shows voltage when the brake pedal is pressed. You'll tap the red wire from the converter into that circuit. When we kit the converter, we include a small circuit tester. If you don't have one, I'd recommend # PTW2993.
