Recommended Towing Mirror Options for 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class
Question:
Hi, we have a new 2016 M-B GLE SUV with towing pkg., but side mirrors do not extend and we cannot see around our camper trailer. I like the design and sturdy steel construction of your CIPA Universal Clamp-on adj. length towing mirror Code CM 11980. Our M-B side mirrors are recessed in their housing so there is about 1/2 inch housing on top side before the mirror. Is that enough room for the clamps to fit on? Thanks for your help!

Expert Reply:
If the OEM mirrors on your 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class have a 1/2-inch gap between the mirror housing and the actual glass mirror surface then the clip-on style of towing mirror, like CIPA # CM11980, will be a good choice for extending your field of view when towing your camper trailer.
This unit is illustrated in the linked review video.
Another option is a door-mount mirror, part # 11650 also from CIPA, that grabs your fender and provides about 17-inches of extension and a 5 x 7-inch mirror surface. A video on this item is linked too.
