Brake Controller and Install Harness Recommendation for a 2016 Ram 1500

Question:

I have a 201665 and it came with plug towing a trailer. I like to put a brake controller on it for my trailer. Talking with Ram dealer and he said they have to do it because it needs to be configured in the Ram. Would you have any idea if this is correct? Watched your vid on installing and it seemed to be a plug and play. Appreciate if you could help me out.

The brake controllers and install harnesses we offer for your 2016 Ram 1500 will not require any computer recalibration. We get this question quite a bit, but all you need is the harness like part # 3024-P and then a brake controller.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes.
