Roof Mounted Bike Carrier Recommendations For 2012 Lincoln Navigator

Question:

Hello, Im looking to get 2 adult bikes and preferably 2 kids bikes on the roof rack of my car. To be honest if I could get three up there I would be thrilled. Is that possible? I have a 2012 navigator with manufacturer crossbars. I was thinking I would need to get longer crossbars. I was also looking at the Thule Sidearm roof rack. Any recommendations? Thanks

I did some research and found that the roof weight capacity for your navigator is 200-lbs. With factory crossbars you will probably need to measure the length of the crossbars to see if 4 bikes would fit when placed side by side on the roof.

The Thule UpRide, part # TH599000, would work great on your factory crossbars. This bike carrier will work with wheels from 20 inches to 29 inches diameter.

When placing the bikes on the roof of your Navigator I recommend staggering the bikes front to back so the handlebars do not interfere with each other. I have attached a product review video for the Sidearm you can check out.

With the size and height of your vehicle I also recommend a tire step like part # HE4040. This makes reaching the middle of the roof of your Navigator much easier. The tire step has a weigh capacity of 400-lbs and fold flat for easy storage when not in use.
