How to Select Sidewinder 5th Wheel Pin Box for Use with Short Bed 2015 Ford F-150
Question:
Does this part, part # LC328492, fit in a 5 1/2ft bed for towing a 5th wheel trailer? If not what would I need?

Expert Reply:
5th wheel towing with your 2015 Ford F-150 with a 5-1/2-foot bed does require using a fixed-type 5th wheel hitch along with a Sidewinder replacement pin box. The Sidewinder will provide 22-inches of additional turning clearance by moving the trailer's pivot point back toward the trailer. This is more clearance than the usual 10-14-inches provided by most slider hitches.
Sidewinder replacement pin boxes are made as replacements for specific standard pin boxes commonly installed as OEM equipment. You'll need to check your pin box for its brand and part number in order to see if a Sidewinder replacement pin box is made for it. Usually this will be found on the safety sticker on the box.
Once you know your pin box info you can refer to the linked article and to the included chart that lists Sidewinder availability. If you have, for example, the popular Lippert 1621, then you can use 20K Sidewinder # RP34FR or the air-cushioned Sidewinder # RP61422. All will bolt right up in place of the 1621.
If you need a wiring harness for your truck you can use part # 50-97-410-010.
