Recommended Options For 2015 Chevrolet Silverado Towing Fifth Wheel Trailer With Revolution Pin Box

Question:

Im getting a 5th wheel that has a Reese revolution sidewinder kingpin, do I need a slider hitch? Also how intrusive is the Reese under bed mounting kit for the tow vehicle in the subject line?

With a Revolution or Sidewinder king pin on your fifth wheel trailer, a slider hitch is not used. You will need a fixed hitch. If you get a sliding fifth wheel hitch it will need to be locked in the forward position.

When installing an underbed rail system like part # RP30868 to use a Reese Elite fifth wheel hitch on your Silverado, there is quite a bit of work to do. If your truck has the heat shield installed, it will need to have part of it cut away so you can install the underbed rail system. You will also need to loosen the bolts securing the truck bed so you can install the rails. I have attached a link to an installation video for this system on a Silverado you can check out.

For above-bed rails the installation kit I recommend for your truck is the Reese Quick-Install Custom Base Rails and Outboard Installation Kit, part # RP56001-53. This is an easy installation as you can see in the attached video. It attaches to the outside of the frame rails using the existing holes. Other than drilling through the truck bed to install the base rails, there is no drilling when installing the fifth wheel hitch.

The fifth wheel hitch I recommend is the Reese M5 Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch, part # RP30921. This hitch is not a slider but will install easily in the underbed rail system, part # RP30868.

If you decide on the above-bed rails I recommend the Reese Titan 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch, part # RP30867. This has serrated dual jaws that give you more jaw-to-king-pin contact and reduces chucking and jarring.
