Replacement Tires for Trailer Using 14.5x7 Tires

Question:

I currently have a 14.5x7 trailer tire that I would like to replace with a more conventional size my current tire is 27inch tall and there isnt much room for a taller tire. This is going to be for a 20-foot car trailer Tandem axle. Thank you.

Expert Reply:

Tire size 14.5x7 is common on ATVs and most often these are found on 12-inch rims. Such a tire has an overall diameter of 14-1/2-inches, so your measurement of 27-inches suggests that perhaps you have a different tire size?

Tires with similar overall diameter to your measurement include the 205/75-14 size which are approximately 26.3-inches and size 215/75-14 which are approximately 26.7-inches in overall diameter.

I linked for you a helpful article on tire sizing as well as our main page for all our trailer tires. Please feel free to re-confirm your tire size (and rim diameter and width) and I'll be glad to help you choose tires of the appropriate capacity for your axles' rating.
