Recommended Installation 5th Wheel Brackets and Wiring for a 2012 Ram 3500

Question:

I need help finding the correct part number. I am transferring a fifth wheel hitch from my old truck to my new truck and need the part number for the correct mounting brackets. I believe the hitch is a Drawtite 16K, or it could be a Reese 16K that was purchased a number of years ago. I am trying to install it in a 2012 Dodge Ram 3500. I would like a bracket kit that doesnt require any drilling if possible, something that would be easy to install. I also need a electrical kit so I can add a 5th wheel plug to the inside of the bed, one with factory connectors. Any help would be appreciated.....Thanks.....

The Draw-Tite, Pro Series, and Reese 5th wheel hitches are all made by the same parent company Cequent, and they will fit the industry standard rails, so we will just need to find an installation kit for your 2012 Ram 3500 to make your current hitch work on your new truck. I attached a picture of the dimensions of industry standard fifth wheel rails for you to check out so you can be sure what 16K unit you have will fit these.

The custom install kit # RP50140-58 is a no drill install kit that will fit as long as your truck doesn't have a gas engine with overload springs. If your truck does have a gas engine and overload springs then I recommend the # RP56011-53 instead, this is also a non drill application.

Since your 3500 is already equipped with the factory 7-way, to get a plug into the bed of your truck I recommend the # C56000, because of its simple installation.

I have linked all the products mentioned above as well as an installation video of the 7-way harness being installed on a similar truck for your convenience.
