According to my research, the 2008 Highlander isn't easily flat towed. Your vehicle might be able to be flat towed if you have the U151 transmission, but you'd need to install a transmission lube pump. If you have the U250 transmission, the only way to tow the vehicle is on a trailer. We don't offer transmission lube pumps, but you could find them online.
If you complete the necessary modifications so the vehicle can be flat towed, you'd need base plates, a tow bar, a wiring harness so the towed vehicle's lights work together with those of the motorhome, a supplemental braking system and maybe a high/low adapter.
For base plates, I'd recommend the Roadmaster # 1180-1 base plates, the # RM-643 safety cables and a Falcon 2 # RM-520 tow bar. The Falcon 2 tow bar is strong, very easy to use, and can self-center and auto lock so you don't need to have the vehicle perfectly lined up behind the motorhome in order to hitch up.
To wire the vehicle, Roadmaster # RM-154 universal taillight wiring kit. The Blue Ox Patriot, part # BLU37TR would be a good choice for a braking system, because the system is portable, it can be installed or removed in minutes, instead of the hours of expensive shop labor needed to install some of the permanently mounted braking systems.
When the tow bar is installed, you'll want the tow bar to be within 3 inches of level. The base plates will be 18 inches off the ground when installed, so depending on your hitch height you might need a high-low adapter. You'll need to determine the height difference between the hitch on your RV and 18 inches and then choose the proper high-low adapter to place the tow bar within 3 inches of level. I'll link you to our selection of high-low adapters.
