Fit & Compatibility of Equal-I-zer Weight Distribution on a 2011 Ram 1500 w/7,700lb Travel Trailer
Question:
I am looking into getting a Equal-i-zer, how do they work when making tight turns and backing up? I have heard that they will make a loud popping noise at low speed turns, is this normal? I have a 2011 ram 1500 4x4 crew cab that is rated for a 10,000lb trailer and want to get a travel trailer that is 7700lb fully loaded with a hitch weight of 720lb. If I got your 10,000lb rated Equal-i-zer would that work? Thank you.

It is normal for all systems to creek and pop due to the nature of the metal on metal friction, which the Equal-I-zer system uses. If the unit makes an abnormally loud pop, this would indicate that there may be damage to the head or spring bar bracket.
As for the weighs you mentioned the 10,000lbs Equal-I-zer system # EQ37100ET would work great for your 2011 Ram 1500 and trailer setup. This kit includes everything you will need to get on the road. The only optional add-on you may be interested in is the special thin-walled socket which is special to the Equal-I-zer hitch ball installation and removal # EQ70-00-4800.
If you don't already have an integrated brake controller your vehicle will need one. When pulling a trailer with brakes you will need to have a brake controller to actuate the brakes. I like the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 because it is a proportional brake controller which means it senses how the tow vehicle is slowing or stopping and applies the trailer's brakes with the same intensity. It also has a full display screen instead of codes that need deciphering. The vehicle specific wiring harness # 3021-P is a custom fit for your 2011 Ram 1500 if you have the factory 4-way or 7-way already. This harness is a plug and play adapter which will mate with the brake controller port underneath the dash of your Ram.
I have linked a review video of the Equal-I-zer weight distribution for you to check out.
