Choosing RV Ladder Mounted Bike Rack

Question:

I have a 44 lb and a 33 lb bike. I want to carry on my RV trailer. Im looking for a rack with good padding, thats height adjustable and have a weight rating to handle to load. I would like one similar to the SP501BR with some added strength of course. What do you suggest.

Of the ladder mounted bike racks we offer, the Surco # SP501BR model you referenced has the highest weight capacity at 75 lbs. Your combined bike weight is 77 lbs, so if you were to remove the seats from each bike, you'd probably get the load under the 75 lb weight capacity of the rack.

Ladder mounted bike racks are pretty bare-bones, there's not much in the way of padding on them. You can always add padding to the rack. I've found that those pool noodle floatation devices work just great for adding extra padding. Simply slit the noodle down the side, you can cut it to length and install it wherever you need to. Duct tape can be used to secure the padding to the ladder.

If you care to click the provided link, you can see a video showing how the rack works.
